BED REST MAY NOT
BE THE BEST RECOMMENDATION
Many doctors will recommend that you take some pills and rest in bed. That
may not be the best advice. A study published in Lancet evaluated 39
different studies involving 5,777 patients on bed rest that was prescribed
for 15 different conditions.
In 24 of the studies following a medical procedure, the researchers found
that not a single patient improved significantly and eight actually
worsened.
In 15 of the studies where bed rest was the primary treatment, the results
were the same; not a single patient improved significantly and nine worsened
significantly.
So if your doctor prescribes bed rest ask him to show you the research
supporting this. The old expression "Use it or lose it" still holds true.

WHY WATER IS SO
IMPORTANT
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often
mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100%
of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could
significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble
with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a
printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by
45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%less
likely to develop bladder cancer.
So.are you drinking the amount of water you should every day? Put a glass of
water on your desk and just get into the habit of sipping water all day
long.

WOMEN - BEWARE
OF A FALL
If a woman falls from a low height and breaks a bone, then she may need to
get a bone-density test as she may have osteoporosis and not know about it.
According to a report in Prevention magazine 75% of these fractures don't
receive any follow-up diagnosis or treatment. This means the real disease of
osteoporosis is going undiscovered and is being allowed to increase the risk
of death.
So, if you know a woman who has a fall and breaks a bone, make sure she
requests a bone-density test.

COMING, USE AN HERBAL REMEDY
There is a great herbal antihistamine that you can use to prevent allergy
suffering - it's called stinging nettle. You need to take a freeze-dried
extract in a capsule. Take three capsules three times a day. Now's a great
time to begin taking it to build up your resistance. Keep taking it every
day through the allergy season.

HOW MUCH VITAMIN D IS
ENOUGH AND IS IT SAFE
A study reported in the American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition found that the current Daily Recommended amounts of Vitamin D are
way too low. Dr. Vieth recommends 800 to 1,000 IUs of Vitamin D per day. He
also reported some studies having administered doses of 100,000 IU per day
for brief periods with no negative effect. One study even injected 300,000
IUs and discovered that they reduced the incidence of osteoporosis fractures
by 25 percent.
Vitamin D also helps calcium be absorbed into your system. Without D the
calcium will simply pass through your system. So, if you're not taking 800
to 1,000 IUs of Vitamin D per day, make sure to increase your dosage. I
personally take 800 IUs per day.
