Doctor"!
Here is the latest issue of the Teplitz Email Report. Enjoy it.
THE POWER OF STRESS
How powerful an impact does stress have? A study published by a
professor at the Harvard School of Public Health looked at 33,000 men and
discovered that chronic stress or serious anxiety is a real predictor for
sudden cardiac death. Since there is no warning before sudden cardiac death
occurs, this becomes good news, because there are many things in my books
and other authors' publications that you can do to lighten up and reduce
stress.
THE POWER OF PRAYER
Here's another study on the power of prayer. In this one there
were 1,000 hospitalized heart patients divided into two groups. Half were
given to one of 15 teams composed of 5 practicing Christians in each team.
They prayed for the patients' names they were given. Four weeks later, the
group that had been prayer for had an 11% reduction in medical complications
and in the need for medications or surgery during this four-week period. So
if you have medical difficulties make sure to get at least 5 people on your
side.
THE POWER OF
OPTIMISM
Researchers at the Mayo Clinic completed a research study that
lasted three decades. They found that optimistic people lived about 19
percent longer than pessimists. This confirms that your attitude is an
important factor in your living longer. So...remember to put on that happy
face.
THE POWER OF
SUPPLEMENTS
Can vitamin supplements really help? A study published in
Psychology and Health had 100 middle managers in British factories whose
average age was 39 take either a moderate vitamin, mineral plus ginseng
supplement or a dummy pill for eight weeks. The persons taking the
supplements felt more pep and less stress than the placebo group.
The persons taking supplements who ate lousy diets really changed. They
felt calmer, less confused, less angry, and they even had much better moods.
THE POWER OF ZINC
Many diabetics have low blood levels of zinc, and those with
damage to the retina have even lower levels. A study in the European Journal
of Clinical Nutrition found that zinc may guard against oxidation damage to
the retina.
Subjects took 30 mgs of zinc per day for three months, and their blood
levels of zinc went up, and the markers showing oxidation went down.
In the general population, people don't get enough zinc. You should take
around 15 mgs per day.
THE POWER OF VIDEO
GAMES
Your kid wants a violent video game and a non-violent one. If
they're equally challenging, which one will they want to play the most? A
study let 60 kids play two games for a minute or two. One was violent and
the other non-violent. Surprisingly, half the kids preferred the non-violent
one. The key difference appeared to be that both were equally challenging.
So, invest in good quality, non-violent video games this year.
THE POWER OF 60
SECONDS
While running stimulates bone growth three times better than
walking, a researcher found that just 60 seconds of running in the middle of
your walk would be enough to signal your bones to add mass. Even jumping
jacks, swing dance or step aerobics for 60 seconds can trigger the building
of bones. So...Flash Dance anyone.
THE POWER OF
LIGHTING
We've completed a 20 minute video called "Switched-On Lighting"
that explains the powerful impact of full spectrum fluorescent tubes and
bulbs on reducing fatigue, increasing productivity and eliminating
headaches. If you'd like to receive a free copy, just send $4 to cover
