I Had
A Wild Experience Speaking In Wisconsin
A couple of weeks ago I was getting ready to speak to 300 people
at the 7:30 am session for the Associated Builders and Contractors
– Wisconsin Chapter. Around 6:45 am I was in my room getting dressed
when I started to break out in a sweat. I also noticed that my stomach
felt a little funny. I immediately took off my clothes and jumped
into an ice cold shower to attempt to cool me off. It didn't really
work.
When I went
back stage, I was sweating up a storm again. I sat down in a chair
and called over Steve Stone, the President of the chapter, and told
him I wasn't sure I would be able to speak. He said, "Of course
you can." A minute or two later I couldn't even keep sitting up
and had to lie down on the floor. I called Steve over again and
told him I didn't even think I could sit in a chair on stage. We
came up with Plan B which was to play a DVD of my program that I
had with me so the audience would watch me but not see me.
Steve walked
away to make the arrangements. I decide to say a little prayer and
focus on energizing myself. If you've attended one of my energy
seminars, you'll have a idea of what I'm talking about.
I felt so much
energy going through my body that my arms and legs started to shake.
The sweating completely stopped in seconds. I stayed on the floor
a couple of more minutes continuing to energize myself. When Steve
started to introduce me, I got up walked on stage and did a great
program for 45 minutes. I did another program later that morning
for 30 minutes and two seminars for 2 hours that afternoon.
I felt really
fine and was surprised at how quickly I was able to change my energy.
One of the lessons that I got from this experience is when we start
to feel sick, we tend to get into feeling sick. What I did with
the prayer and the energizing was to change the 'downhill' direction
my body was going. So…if you feel an illness coming on, turn you
mind in the opposite direction, say a prayer (if that is comfortable
for you) and focus on energy flooding into your body and you too
can rise up from the floor!

Melatonin
Another Way To Stop Migraines
Melatonin is another way to stop migraines from happening. In a
study published in Neurology there were 32 participants taking 3
mg of melatonin 30 minutes before bedtime. After 3 months, 78 percent
of the subjects reported the frequency of their migraines was cut
in half. Also, the duration of the migraines was shortened in those
still having them.

Winning Over The Staff At A Nursing Home
Michael Josephson wrote about a woman named Lori whose 85 year old father was in the last stages of cancer and in a convalescent home. She realized the staff was competent but cold. What Lori did was get the name of every person who worked with her father and sent each of them a personally addressed envelope with a carnation attached. The letter contained pictures of her dad's life and a note that gave some of the highlights of her Dad's life. She ended with asking them to treat him as you would want your father treated.

Depression
In a study published in Nutrition Journal, researchers gave subjects
who had a strong possibility of depression either 600 or 4,000 IUs
of Vitamin D. They started taking the supplements in the summer
and continued through the winter.
A year later,
subjects taking both doses reduced their depression. The ones taking
4,000 IUs per day had the greatest response. By starting in the
summer the subjects felt better when winter came. So…it's not too
late to start taking your Vitamin D especially if you get winter
depression.

Men Can Increase Their Level Of Bone Density
Osteoporosis, which is loss of bone mass, is not just something that happens to women. A study was conducted at Rancho Bernardo California with 396 men aged 45-92 over a four year period. The researchers discovered that men with osteoporosis of the hip and spine had lower levels of zinc in their diet and showed lower concentrations of zinc in their blood than men who did not have the disease. So…if you're a guy, as you age, make sure you include 15 to 30 mg of zinc in your daily diet or by supplementation.

To
Have Bypass Surgery Or Not To Have Bypass Surgery
An article in the November & December issue of AARP reported that
bypass surgery may not be the best first option in most cases of
coronary artery blockages. Dr. Graboys of Harvard Medical School
suggests a three-step formula to determine whether you can follow
a non surgical route first.
Here are the
steps:
1. Do you have
a good heart muscle? That can be determined by cardiac ultrasound.
2. Does the heart have a stable rhythm especially under stress?
That can be determined by a treadmill stress test.
3. Is there an absence of pain or shortness of breath?
If there is
no pain or shortness of breath coupled with a good heart muscle
and a stable rhythm, then bypass surgery can actually make the situation
worse. If you are going to choose not to have bypass surgery, then
the doctors in the article recommend three things to do:
1. Take drugs
to lower blood pressure, modify cholesterol and raise HDL levels.
2. Follow
a Mediterranean-style diet.
3. Exercise
So…if your doctor
doesn't know about these alternatives to recommending immediate
bypass surgery, then make sure you get a second opinion from a doctor
who is aware of them so you can make a really informed decision.
