Reduce
Cancer And Early Deaths From Cancer
A
study published in the journal Medicine
& Science in Sports & Exercise looked at more than a hundred epidemiological
studies on the role of physical activity on cancer prevention. They found
that physically active men and women have about a 30 to 40% reduction in
the risk of developing colon cancer compared to inactive persons.
They
also reported that women can reduce their breast cancer risk by about a 20
to 30% reduction in risk with moderate to vigorous intensity physical
activity
After
you have cancer, exercise may significantly boost your chances of recovery
and survival while helping to diminish your chances of a recurrence of the
cancer. A study from Harvard in 2005 found that breast cancer patients who
exercised moderately for three to five hours a week cut their odds of
dying from cancer by close to 50% compared to sedentary patients.
These
results applied whether the women were diagnosed early on or after their
cancer had spread.
Another
study published in 2012 found that breast and colon cancer patients who
exercised regularly had half the rate of recurrence compared to
non-exercisers.
John
Hopkins recommends exercise during and after cancer treatments. So…while
it may feel difficult to exercise after chemo, you want to get two and a
half hours of moderate-intensity exercises in each week to dramatically
increase your chances for surviving the cancer.

Be
Careful Treating Bed Bugs With Chemicals
Bed
bugs are spreading. If you get bed bugs in your house, you need to be
careful with how you treat them. The National Pesticide Information Center
has reported a dramatic increase in the number of bed bug-related calls
due to pesticide exposures and many of the calls resulted in mild to
serious health effects.
People
have also been using pesticides intended only for outdoor use inside their
homes to kill the bed bugs. Spraying these pesticides onto ceilings,
floors, beds and crib mattresses can lead to headaches, nausea, vomiting,
diarrhea, dizziness, heart attack symptoms and muscle tremors.
All
these chemicals are also starting to cause the bed bugs to develop
pesticide resistance.
You do
have an alternative
to using chemicals that never leads to resistance. It is using
thermal remediation. This uses heat to destroy the bed bugs. You just
remove plastic items or other items that might melt at 130+ degrees from
your house and then the pest control company turns up the heat. So…there
is a safe way to keep the bed bugs from biting.

Get
Rid Of Kidney Stones Riding A Roller Coaster
An
According to a study in the Journal
of the American Osteopathic Association you can pass a kidney stone by
riding on a roller coaster. The researchers tested the effects on a 3D
model of a kidney that contained real kidney stones. They took the kidney
on roller coaster rides at Walt Disney World. The researchers found that
sitting in the back car was a more successful kidney stone remover than
sitting in the front seats. The stones in the last car were passed 64% of
the time verses 17% for the front-seat. So…this is one time when it’s
better to be last than to be first.
So…here’s some humor that I came up with about this method of kidney
stone removal:

Disney World posts a sign saying “WARNING: Falling Kidney Stone Zone”

A Roller Coaster will be built even higher so that a greater percentage of
kidney stones can be released. The ride will be called The Kidney Stone
Passing Coaster.

A man was taken to the hospital due to being hit in the eye by a flying
kidney stone while watching the Roller Coaster.

Mathematicians have developed a formula for Roller Coaster Kidney Removal
– The formula is height vs velocity vs speed vs size of kidney stone to
the square root of 10.

The Florida State Medical Board is suing Disney World for practicing
medicine without a license.
-
The numbers of people visiting Disney World are exploding due to kidney
stone guests claiming the visit to Disney World as a medical expense for
kidney stone removal.

People were heard shouting at Disney World – It’s a bird, it’s a
plane…no, it’s a flying kidney stone.

After eating at a kiosk in Disney World, a guest had to have emergency
surgery due to doctors discovering that a kidney stone had lodged in his
stomach. Disney has posed warning signs “Eat At Kiosks At Your Own
Risk.”

There have
been reports of UFOs over Disney World. Authorities have launched an
investigation of these Unidentified Flying Stones.

Incredible
Physical Feats By Seniors
As
you age, you might be thinking that you have to cut down on the physical
stuff.
Well,
you may be dead wrong. Here are stories of seniors who didn’t listen to
the message to take it easy.

Willier
Murphy began weight lifting at age 73. At 77, she was able to dead lift
215 pounds, which was more than twice her own weight of 105 pounds.
She could also power curl 60 pounds.

Phyllis
Rowley took up karate at age 72. In six years she worked through the
belt ranks and received her 1st Black Belt.
-
Sister
Madonna Buder began running at age 47. At 86, she is now the oldest
woman athlete to compete in an Ironman triathlon which includes a
2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. She’s done 45
of them and is called “The Iron Nun.”

Ernie
Andrus, a 93-year-old WWII veteran just finished a three-year-long,
3,000 mile run across the United States from the Pacific Ocean to the
Atlantic. He wanted to raise awareness of what it took to win WWII.

Finally,
Tao Porchon-Lynch at 98 is recognized in the Guinness Book of World
Records as the world’s oldest yoga teacher. She’s been a yoga
instructor for 58 years. At 85, she also took up ballroom dancing.
So…the
question is what’s stopping you from at least going for a long walk?

The
Chemicals In The Body That Acupuncture Regulates
When
an acupuncturist sticks a needle into your body, what is it doing that
enables it to reduce pain and help the body heal? Scientist have now
discovered a partial answer to this question. When acupuncture is being
used to reduce muscle inflammation, it affects two cells in the body. The
first is known as M1 macrophages which is involved in causing an
inflammatory response in the body. Acupuncture turns the M1 cells off. The
other cell it is affecting is called M2 macrophages, which is involved
with reducing inflammation, pain and swelling. Acupuncture activates the
anti-inflammatory response that the M2 have.
Increasing
the M2 response causes the release of additional anti-inflammatory
interleukin-10 into the body. Interleukin-10 reduces pain and swelling.
So…getting stuck with needles is actually affecting the cells in your
body.

New
Treatment To Help People With Glaucoma
Glaucoma
is a condition in which
you have a buildup of pressure in the eye lens which can lead
to damage and loss of vision if it’s not corrected. If
that occurs, then the loss of vision is considered irreversible. There is
now a treatment that will give people who suffer from glaucoma new hope. A
study published in PLOS
ONE looked at 82 patients who had visual deficits caused by glaucoma
or optic nerve compression and other eye problems that had caused nerve
damage. Forty-five of the patients underwent 10 daily session of
Alternating Current Stimulation (ACS) for up to 50 minutes per day for a
two-week period. Thirty-seven of the patients received sham stimulation.
Each
patient had their eyes checked before treatment, 48 hours after treatment
and two months later. The patients who received ACS showed significantly
greater improvements in the whole visual field than the sham group right
after treatment. Even more powerful, two months later the ACS group showed
a 25% improvement in their visual field while the sham group’s changes
were negligible at a .28% improvement.

Fiber Diet Cuts Death Rate
A
high fiber diet can reduce your risk of premature death from any cause by
reducing your risk of getting chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes,
heart disease, stroke and cancer. It can also help heart patients live
longer by lowering their blood pressure, improving insulin sensitivity and
reducing inflammation.
How
much fiber do you need to be eating to get these results? A number of
studies have found that for each 10-gram increase in your daily fiber
intake you will lower your risk of dying by 15%. For those who ate the
most fiber, the reduction in risk dropped by 25%.
Unfortunately,
most Americans get only about half the amount of fiber we need as fiber is
concentrated in vegetables and we don’t eat enough veggies. Other good
sources of fiber are nuts and seeds.
Some of
the things fiber does is it feeds the good bacteria in your digestive
system while also moving waste products through of your system faster.
Fiber will also give you the feeling of being full sooner. To get more
fiber in my diet, I add a couple of tablespoons of organic chia seeds to
my breakfast meal and I usually have a large salad as part of my dinner.
So…fiber up your diet with more veggies and get better health
protection!
