When Is An Item In The Store  Healthy, Green or Socially Responsible

You’re in the grocery store and have several choices you can make on an item you need. So, how can you decide which is healthier, greener or manufactured socially responsibly? Well, there’s a free app for that. It works on an android and iphone. It will give you instant information about which household products are, or are not, healthy, green or socially responsible. All you need to do is scan the barcode with your phone and you’ll see ratings on 120,000 times. To get the app, go to your app store and search for Goodguide.

Another website that can assist you in learning what’s a good food product to buy can be found at www.prevention.com/cleanfood2013. You can search by meal, food category, certified organic gluten-free, and more. This site’s criteria for inclusion are:
No GMO ingredients
No more than 10 grams of added sugar
Less than 200 mg of sodium per serving (400 mg for meals)
BPA-free cans
Sustainable seafood
and even delicious is included in the requirements!

Your Electrical Appliances That Are Wasting Your Money


You may not be aware of it, when turn off your TV, computer, printer and other appliances, they are still using power. That’s why when you turn them on, they come on instantly. So if you watch TV a couple of hours a night, you’re actually paying for the electricity to keep it ready to be turned on for 22 hours every day. It’s been estimated that 40% of your home electric bill goes to pay for this standby power and in an office it’s costing 26% of the bill. Not only does this cost you money, it causes the power plants to produce more electricity than is actually needed.

So, what can you do about it, besides going around and unplugging every electrical cord?  Now, you’ve got an option. There’s a new electrical outlet that stops this waste of energy. A Wonderful Poem on Acceptance

I ran across this poem recently and want to share it with you. It’s about Acceptance and it’s by Mandi Ducroq.

   Accept me for who I am

  It’s what make us all so real

Multivitamins Really Do Work 

There was a study conducted by researchers at the University of Melbourne in Australia where healthy adults were given either a daily high-dose multivitamin or a placebo. The researchers found that the multivitamin group had a significantly increased energy level (especially among female participants). They had lower stress levels, a measurable improvement in mood and they slept better.

Another study found that the cells of people who take multivitamins actually had a younger biological age. All this is a pretty good return on the investment in a high-potency multivitamin. So…if you aren’t taking a multivitamin, what are you waiting for?

Stopping Fibroid Tumors From Growing

Women get fibroid tumors growing in their uterus. While they are noncancerous tumors, they can cause infertility, miscarriage as well as pain in women. They are also the primary cause of women having a hysterectomy.

Well, now you can do something about stopping them from growing. Researchers at the National Institute of Health found that women with sufficient Vitamin D were 32% less likely to develop fibroids than women whose Vitamin D was less than 20 ng/mL (ng/mL is the way you measure Vitamin D in the body). The optimum level of Vitamin D should be between 50 and 70 ng/mL.

They researchers also found that women who spent more that one hour a day outside in the sun had a 40% lower risk of developing fibroids. In addition, recent animal studies found that Vitamin D supplements can actually help shrink existing fibroids.

If you can’t get your hour a day outside, then you’ll want to take a Vitamin D3 supplement. The recommended amount is between 2,000 and 5,000 IUs per day in divided doses. To discover your current level of Vitamin D, you’ll need to have your doctor do a blood test.

The Power Of Mushrooms

Paul Stamets, an expert on exploring uses for mushrooms, has written a book called Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms can Help Save the World. He describes mushrooms as “the neurological network of nature.” It turns out that the animal and fungal kingdoms sprout from the same branch. He’s found that mushrooms can clean up runoff from a septic system and farm wastewater run off and reduce fecal bacteria levels by hundreds of times.

Paul found a mushroom strain that was used to clean up an oil spill on land in four weeks. Another variety can break down petroleum floating in water or it can be used to barricade a beach from oil reaching it. There’s a strain that can be grown on old logging roads to prevent silt and pollutants from clogging streams.

He’s found mushrooms that can increase crop yields on farms and speed up reforestation in woodlands by adding the mushrooms to the soil. He’s even created a cardboard shipping box impregnated with tree seeds and a mushroom. After being used, the box could be torn apart and planted to replace the trees used in the manufacture of the box.

He’s even found a mushroom that ants and termites will carry into their nests. The mushroom then puts out a poison that kills the ants and termites within two weeks. He’s now testing mushrooms that can remove and absorb heavy metals and radioactive isotopes in contained soil.

Vegetarians Live Longer

A study published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine by Researchers form Loma Linda University found that vegetarians had a 12% lower risk of dying over a six year period when compared to a group of non-vegetarians.

 

The researchers started with 73,308 Seventh-Day Adventist men and women who were vegetarian. Over the six year period, 2,570 died.

The researchers found that vegans had a 15% lower risk of death. Lacto-ovo vegetarians (those who eat dairy and eggs had a 9% lower risk of death and semi-vegetarians had an 8% lower risk.

Another Loma Linda study found that veggie men lived 9.5 years longer and veggie women lived 6.1 years longer.

Finally, a study from Oxford University found that a veggie diet lowered heart disease by 32% compared to meat and fish eaters. The veggie eaters also had lower body mass indexes and they were less likely to have diabetes. So…veggie anyone (BTW, I’ve been a lacto veggie for 42 years!).

 

The Power of A Real Smile

There are two different kinds of smiles – the genuine one and the polite one. The genuine one is spontaneous, indicates pleasure and is a social reward. The polite one is just going through the motions of doing a smile. Research published in Psychological Science found that 21% of genuine smiles are anticipated before the recipient sees it and will respond before the brain can even process that the smile happened. The polite smile is responded to by the recipient after the polite smile has occurred. The researchers found that the recipient’s facial muscles started contracting even before the genuine smile was given. This means our subconscious is prepped for seeing the real smile even before it happens. So…smile and mean it.

2. We will either mail you a video of the course for you to watch or you can stream the videos to your computer, your choice.

3. We will either mail or email you the Instructor’s Manual which contains the participant manual, a full script of the seminar and marketing materials.

4. After you have reviewed the videos and the script and are comfortable with the materials, we will arrange a several hour phone call (on a Skype call if you are in Canada or international) where we will discuss teaching, marketing and other details.

5. You will need to do an audio recording of your teaching a portion of a live seminar to complete certification process.

6. The fee is currently the same for taking this live training or the long distance version which is $675.


Steps for Non Brain Gym Persons wanting to be certified

1. Steps 1 to 6 above apply.

2. You must also do a video of your doing the Brain Gym Movements for me to review.

3. You have to take a Brain Gym 101 Class as part of your Certification.
