Getting
Beverages Back On Planes – There Is
A Way! |
|
The
Virginian Pilot just published my Letter
to the Editor about how to allow passengers
to take beverages back on planes. Here’s
what I wrote:
“I am a frequent flyer and due to the
fact that the atmosphere in airplane
cabins is so drying, when I fly, I drink
large quantities of water to stay properly
hydrated. The response to the UK terrorist
plot has been to ban passengers from
bringing all liquids on board airplanes.
I would like to suggest another option
which would allow all beverages back
on planes again. |
|
1.
Only allow beverage containers on
board that have been purchased after
passengers have passed through security
screening.
2. Require manufacturers to install
tamper-proof caps on all beverage
containers sold past the security
checkpoint.
3. Allow passengers to only bring
these sealed beverages on the plane
provided the seal has not been broken
prior to boarding. This means that
passengers will be boarding with beverages
that will be opened for the first
time on the plane.
|
|
These
simple steps will thwart liquid-carrying
terrorists and will allow passengers
to take personal beverages on the planes
thereby assist them in staying hydrated
and healthier.” |
|
So…if
you know anyone high in the Department
of Homeland Security, would you pass
this onto them? |

Making
Immediate Change To The Way The Brain
Functions |
In
my Switched-On Selling, Network Marketing,
Golf and Management Seminars, I talk
about the plasticity of the brain
and how we can make changes to our
neuron nets in minutes. Well, the
journal Nature has published
some more research validating this
concept. The research involved four
people who, due to injury and disease,
were paralyzed from the neck down.
Each person had a tiny electronic
chip implanted in the motor cortex
of the brain. |
|
In
a matter of minutes, all of the participants
were able to learn to use their thoughts
to operate a computer, turn on a TV
set, open email, play a video game and
even to manipulate a robotic arm. One
person, who could not speak due to a
stroke, learned how to use her thoughts
to type messages using special software.
Two patients, who could talk, became
so nimble that they could signal computer
functions while they were talking. So…multi-tasking
is alive and well in our brains. |
|
I
view my Switched-On Seminars as a way
to create changes in your business success
without needing to stick micro-chips
into your brain. Next month I will release
new research studies which further validate
all the Switched-On business courses
I offer. To learn more about the existing

Fire
Ants Getting To You? Natural Ways To
Stop Them |
Fire
ants were recently reported in the
city where I live, Virginia Beach,
VA. Several people wrote to the local
paper with natural solutions for getting
rid of fire ants without using chemicals
that can be deadly to other wildlife.
Here are the suggestions: |
|
1.
Build a small dike around the main
hole to the nest. Pour a few gallons
of boiling water with mint leaves
in it inside the dike. This will cook
the hive plus the ants don’t like
the mint. Repeat it for a several
days to a week. (This also works for
sugar ants and red ants). From Mitch
French, Syracuse, KS
2. About a half-hour before sundown,
sprinkle dry, uncooked grits carefully
around the perimeter of the next without
disturbing the ants. The ants will
take the food into the nest. Once
the ants take in moisture, they will
swell up and explode. From Stephen
R. King, Townsend, DE
3. Diluted liquid soap will dissolve
the exoskeleton of ants. Pour onto
the nest. From Dave Kisor, Riverside,
CA

Getting
Healthier Farmed Salmon |
The
food industry is finally paying attention
to the fact that farmed salmon can pollute
the environment. Besides causing water
pollution, escaped fish contaminate
the wild population with disease and
non-native genes. Wegmans, an east coast
supermarket chain, and Bon Appetit Management
Company, a restaurant company that provides
café and catering services to
corporations, colleges and universities,
and specialty venues (www.bamco.com),
have now partnered with Environmental
Defense to require fish farms to clean
up industry practices used in fish farming.
To view the new standards, go to www.environmentaldefense.org/partnership_project.cfm?projectID=30. |
|
So…
to help this trend toward healthier
farmed salmon ask your grocery store
to buy farm-raised salmon only from
fisheries that comply with these new
standards. Otherwise, buy only wild-caught
Alaskan salmon. |

Generating
Electricity When You Take A Step |
When
you take a step, you generate 6 to 8
watts of energy - and then it’s gone.
An architectural firm in London is designing
a way to capture that energy on a mass
scale and turn it into electricity.
The company is working to develop a
vibration-harvesting sensor that would
be imbedded in train stations, bridges,
factories and any other building rattled
by vibrations. Just imagine all the
electricity that could be generated
just by the people who walk through
Grand Central Station in New York City!
So…keep on stepping so you can start
to create electricity when this device
is in place. |

Calcium
and Vitamin D Can Stop Diabetes |
A
20-year study of 83,000 women by Tufts-New
England Medical Center found that
the women who took the highest levels
of Calcium and Vitamin D had a 33%
lower risk of type-2 diabetes. The
amount of calcium these women took
was 1,200 mg and 800 IUs of Vitamin
D per day. Unfortunately the study
also showed that, 75% of the women
took less than the necessary level
of Calcium and 97% took too little
Vitamin D. So…pills anyone? |

Heavy
Cell Phone Usage Causes Cancer |
There’s
more clarity about the risk of heavy
cell usage from a study that was conducted
by the Swedish National Institute
for Working Life. The researchers
looked at 2,200 cancer patients, which
included 905 patients with malignant
brain tumors, and compared them to
2,200 people who did not have cancer.
The risk of a brain tumor was 2.4
times higher than normal for the heavy
cell phone users. A heavy cell phone
user used the phone for one hour per
day for 10 years. Tumors were often
on the side of the head where the
phone was most frequently held. |
|
Besides
using a headset, another way to reduce
the risk is to wear a Q-Link. The Q-Link
pendant was invented with the help of
a Quantum Physicist from Stanford University.
The Q-Link creates a field that prevents
you from being adversely affected by
the electromagnetic field generated
by the cell phone. For more information

Why
Employees Leave |
A
study reported by Towers Perrin Global
Workforce Study found that the primary
reasons employees stay at companies,
are as follows:
|
|
1.
Managers understand what motivates them
2, Challenging work
3. Career advancement
4. Visibility, honesty, consistency
of their managers
5. Interest in employee |
|
Compensation
and benefits are often lower on the
list of reasons as to why people leave.
According to Robert Half International
employee data, the reasons people leave
are typically due to management, work
environment and/or the actions of a
direct supervisor. |
|
The
Sirota Survey Intelligence reports that
employees who that feel their manager
does not respect them are 3 times more
likely to leave their employer over
the next 2 years than those who feel
respected. |
|
So…to
me, this means that managers are a significant
key to creating a successful employee.

Feedback
From A Client |
If
you’ve attended one of my sessions where
I demonstrated the Kinesiology Muscle
Checking, you’ll appreciate this comment
from a client on zipping up the Stomach
Meridian line. This organization was
a government agency involved with transportation. |
|
“I
would like to thank you for your wonderful
presentation! I know participants really
enjoyed it and talked about it the rest
of the meeting. |
|
I
must tell you that, as expected, the
Fed guy from D.C., who was on the agenda
Tuesday (unfortunately we had to give
him time), was such a downer, that when
he finished, I got up and told the group
that it was time to drop a pen on the
floor. Every one understood what I meant
and we all laughed. Of course he had
no idea what that was all about since
he did not attend your session :-).”
