A
Way To Protect Yourself From The Flu |
|
Dr.
Julian Whitaker has written about an interesting
approach to preventing the flu. The flu emerges
every year in November and ends around March.
In the Southern Hemisphere, however, the flu
months are from June through September. Is this
an interesting coincidence? Is there something
more to it? Dr. Whitaker thinks there’s more
to it; he thinks the key element is the lack
of sunlight which results in the lack of production
of Vitamin D in our skin. |
|
There
is some research to back up this claim. In recent
years, Vitamin D has been found to release what
are called antimicrobial peptides that are very
potent. A study published in Science even found
that these peptides from Vitamin D can actually
kill the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis.
|
|
If
you are in a Northern climate, you might want
to take around 2,000 IU of Vitamin D3 per day.
On a sunny summer day, your body produces 20,000
IUs of D in just 20 minutes! If you are in a
Southern climate, get outside without sunscreen
for at least 10 minutes per day. |
|
So…give
it a whirl since Vitamin D is very safe and
2,000 IU per day is not a very high dose. |

Some
Schools Go Green In Their Practices |
|
Colleges
and Universities in Washington are great examples
of schools that are applying green practices
in a sound ways: |
|
-
University of Washington students are exploring
the use of cooking oil from campus eateries
for fueling university cars.
- The
students at Western Washington University
have agreed to pay up to $10.50 per quarter
to buy renewable electricity.
-
Garbage from many school cafeterias is being
composted for fertilizing the campus flowers.
-
Numerous campus eateries are serving locally
grown foods, organic fruits, veggies and
fair-trade coffee.

The
reverse is also still happening. A report by
the Center for Science in the Public Interest
found 23 states are still allowing soft drinks
and sugary foods to be offered to the kids in
public schools. |

More
Information on Kudzu |
|
Last
month I wrote that Kudzu, a weed that has invaded
our Southern forests, actually has a beneficial
effect in helping alcoholics recover. A reader,
Anne Marie Gabrielle, emailed me about other
uses of Kudzu. Let me share what Anne Marie
had to say: “Another use of Kudzu is to ease
digestive problems. For a long time it’s been
used in Macrobiotics to alkalinize the body.
I used it on my son-in-law last Thanksgiving--made
him drink a "medicinal" drink of kudzu
(the Japanese name for Kudzu), tamari, and ume
plum--he was able to eat whatever he wanted
without problems as long as he had the drink
every few hours. I have also used kudzu as a
natural thickener in a raw fruits pie I make. |
|
Eden
makes a good brand of organic kuzu. I found
an interesting article here:
www.newlifejournal.com/augsep02/belleme.shtml.”
Thanks, Anne Marie! |

How
I Got Into Kinesiology |
|
I recently shared with a group of people at
a dinner how I discovered Kinesiology Muscle
Checking. I realized that I don’t normally have
time during seminars to share this story, so
I thought I’d do it now. |
|
It
started in 1976. I had gastritis, which is a
problem with excessive gas and belching. A woman
I was dating at the time said that just by pushing
on my extended arm, she could determine if the
gastritis was being caused by a food allergy
or sensitivity. She didn’t even give me a food
to hold. She just thought of a type of food
and pushed on my arm. My arm went down on a
half dozen of the foods she thought of, but
since I was trained as a lawyer, I thought it
was a “crock” and forgot about it. |
|
In
1980, I attended a conference and saw a film
of a woman doing muscle checking on meridian
lines and positive and negative thinking. I
got excited about what I saw. I started playing
with it and saw that it worked every time. A
couple of weeks later I was in Oregon conducting
a seminar. I had some extra time so I visited
with a couple of friends and said that I had
something exciting to show them. I did the muscle
checking on them. They in turn said they had
something exciting to show me, they brought
out a book by Dr. John Diamond that had just
come out called BK: Behavioral Kinesiology.
This book had in-depth information about muscle
checking. They just happened to have purchased
2 copies of the book and, when I left their
house, they gave one to me. |
|
I
read it cover-to-cover on the plane and immediately
started incorporating the muscle checking into
my seminars. I then learned that Dr. Diamond
gave a new seminar once every two months in
New York. I started attending them and ended
up studying with Dr. Diamond for two years. |
|
One
other thing – about six months after getting
into the muscle checking…since I still had the
gastritis, I asked a friend to re-check me for
food allergies. This time I held each food in
my hand, and guess what? My arm went down on
the exact same foods that it did when my lady
friend checked me in 1976. This time I did eliminate
these foods from my diet and the problem that
had plagued me for seven years was gone in 4
days! That really firmed up my conviction in
the power of muscle checking! |

Q-Link
Helps Golfers Plus Even More |
|
The
Q-Link is a pendant that, when worn around the
neck, strengthens resilience and resistance
to the harmful effects of stress. Golfers who
wear a Q-Link report that they can more easily
eliminate outside distractions, they recover
more quickly from bad shots, they have more
energy, and they have a sharper mental focus
in their game. They even report that they sleep
more soundly. |
|
Ted
Purdy and Charles Howell III, two PGA Tour golfers,
each wore a Q-Link pendant to keep their cool
under the extreme pressures of top-level competition.
Both finished in the top-5 at the recent Michelin
Championship. Purdy, who tied for third, and
Howell, who finished fifth, attributed the benefits
of their Q-Links to helping them to achieve
those high finishes. Combined, they won almost
$400,000. |
|
On
the Champion’s tour, Q-Link’s manufacturer reports
that it had two top-10 finishers. Bruce Fleisher
and Dave Barr both relied on the Q-Link for
their successes at the Administaff Small Business
Classic; they each finished in the top 10. Q-Link
wearers have won 9 tournaments this year on
the Champion's Tour. With 17 tournament wins
and over 40 million dollars in prize money earned
in 2005 by professional golfers who were wearing
a Q-Link pendant, the results speak for themselves.
The Q-Link was even named the Best New Product
at the 2005 PGA Fall Expo in Las Vegas. |
|
So
here’s a special holiday offer for the golfer
in your life. The price of the Q-Link is normally
$99.95 plus s/h. If you order one for a holiday
gift I’ll reduce the price to $90 and I will
include, at no extra charge, a coupon for a
free Carnivore Wedge valued at $70 (only pay
s/h). Take advantage of
this special offer here: www.teplitz.com/QlinkDiscount.htm. For Valentine "Couples" savings, our lowest price ever here:
