A Friendly Way For A Child To Be Vaccinated

I’ve been hesitant to recommend the intense vaccination schedule that children have to undergo, some being a combination of different vaccines given at the same time. Dr. Donald Miller has come up with a better option.

Dr. Miller is a cardiac surgeon and professor of surgery at the University of Washington, Seattle. He came up with a much more user-friendly vaccination schedule that includes these elements:

1.      No vaccinations until your child is two years old

2.      No vaccines that contain thimerosal (mercury)

3.      No live-virus vaccines

4.      The following vaccines should be given one at a time (not as a combination vaccine) every six months, beginning at age 2:

Pertussis (acellular, not whole cell)
Diphtheria
Tetanus
Polio (the Salk vaccine)

Using Curcumin To Fight Alzheimier’s Disease

Curcumin is found in the spice turmeric. While it’s been know to have anticancer properties, it has recently been found to help Alzheimier’s patients. In both the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and Science News Weekly, researchers reported that taking curcumin in conjunction with Vitamin D might give the immune system the boost it needs to wipe out the plaques that form in the brain when someone has Alzheimer’s.

Since curcumin is poorly absorbed, it is usually recommended that you take it with black pepper or quercetin. Well, there is now a better option. Avoid Aluminum, Avoid Alzheimer’s Disease

One of the reasons that Alzheimer’s Disease is so prevalent in our country may be from all the aluminum many of us are unknowing consuming. Did you know municipal water companies add aluminum sulfate to the water supply to clear up turbidity? Flu shots have aluminum in them? Underarm deodorants can have it? A coated aspirin can have up to 49 mgs of aluminum? And silica aluminum may be in processed foods to keep them from caking? I didn’t know most of this, so my guess is you didn’t know either.

One solution for getting rid of aluminum in the body is to eat cilantro, also called coriander. In Vietnam, the diet of residents is high in cilantro and there is also a very low Alzheimer’s rate. One researcher, Yoshiaki Omura found that the urine of those people eating a lot of cilantro was actually getting rid of 300 to 500 mg every time they went to the bathroom.

Silver May Be Best Bet For Fighting Infections

Silver, in the form of colloidal silver, may be our best weapon against some of the antibiotic-resistant bacteria that are becoming more prevalent in our world, such as MRSA, Avian Influenza (bird flu), HIV and SARS. The benefit of colloidal silver has been known for centuries. Even the founder of Searle Pharmaceutical Company reported in 1919 that colloidal silver was rapidly fatal to microbes without being toxic or having any negative effects on the person using it.

Several recent studies have demonstrated that silver can battle deadly antibiotic-resistant super pathogens. One study published in the journal Current Science found that a number of antibiotic drugs which had previously been able to kill these pathogens could be restored to full effectiveness only if a type of colloidal silver was used in conjunction with the drug.

Another study published in Iran found that silver increased the effectiveness of antibiotic drugs against staph infections.

A study published in the journal Colloids Surface B Biointerfaces found that colloidal silver, by itself, eradicates both MRSA and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, another superbug.

Finally, a study published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B also demonstrated that colloidal silver was highly effective against MRSA.

So, you do want to make sure you purchase only true colloidal silver. One way to tell if it’s true colloidal silver is that it is never clear, as the silver particles block light from passing through making the liquid appear darker. It should also not foam for several minutes when you shake it vigorously.

Unique Uses For Bananas

The lowly banana (so I thought) is not so lowly after all.  I read an article recently that listed some unique uses for bananas.

• Mosquito bites: The article said to rub the inside of a banana skin on the insect bite. It will reduce the swelling and irritation.

• Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana.

• Morning sickness: For pregnant women, snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

• Constipation: High in fiber, bananas can help restore normal bowl action without having to take a laxative.

So…I’ll never look at a banana the same way.

Vitamin D And Vitamin A In Conflict

I’ve written a number of times over the past several years about how Vitamin D is becoming a more and more important supplement to take. Well, it’s now turning out that a certain form of supplemental Vitamin A (retinoic acid) may actually inhibit the beneficial effects of Vitamin D. This news came from the Vitamin D Council. The form of Vitamin A that you get from beta carotene is not implicated in this A/D conflict.

Two recent meta-analysis studies brought this to the forefront. In one study people in developed countries that were getting their Vitamin A from cod liver oil or other supplements had a 16% increase in dying.

The other study showed that Vitamin A supplementation also increased the risk of infections.

These statistics did not apply to developing countries where Vitamin A supplementation is still highly beneficial in decreasing infections and preventing blindness.

So…if you are taking Vitamin A, you need to switch to a beta carotene supplement. If you are a heavy smoker, you want to avoid taking a beta carotene supplement. Also, remember to take your Vitamin D3.
