You do not have to be a athlete to attend this Seminar; being in good health, and possessing a willingness to get dirty and try new things are the only pre-requisites. Please advise us of any concerns or health questions you may have.

Cost of the 2-day Seminar:   Early registration: $750 (prior to September 7, 2005), $850 after September 7, 2005. Deposit required at time of registration is $200.00. We will provide lunch both days of the seminar, the seminar runs from 9 am to 4 pm each day. This seminar may be tax deductible as a business expense. Check with your tax advisor.


Dr. Jerry V. Teplitz

Dr. Jerry V. Teplitz' background is as unique as the techniques and approaches he teaches. He is a graduate of Hunter College and Northwestern University School of Law. He practiced as an attorney for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

At that point, Jerry's career took a dramatic change of direction. Jerry studied and received Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Wholistic Health Sciences from Columbia Pacific University. He is currently on the faculty of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management.

Dr. Teplitz has been a field manager for the Carlson Learning Company for the past fourteen years and President of his own consulting firm for the past twenty years. Jerry conducts seminars in the areas of stress management, employee productivity, and sales development.

The list of clients Dr. Teplitz has consulted for include such organizations as: Century 21 Great Lakes, Northeast, and South Florida Division, IBM, Holiday Inns, International Management Council, Young Presidents Organization, Sales and Marketing Executives, Glaxo, EDS, American Bankers Association, American Society of Association Executives, American Accounting Association, plus over four hundred colleges and universities across the United States and Canada.

Jerry is the author of the book Managing Your Stress: How To Relax and Enjoy, and his two latest books are Switched-On Living and Brain Gym for Business. Articles on Jerry have appeared in such publications as Successful Meetings, Prevention, and Plane and Pilot. He has also been listed in several editions of Who's Who in America.

As a professional speaker, he has spoken to almost one million people. Dr. Teplitz has also been honored by his peers in the National Speakers Association by receiving the title of "Certified Speaking Professional" and has been selected as "Top Rated Speaker" by the International Platform Association.

Bob Callahan Jr.
President,
Encompass Adventure Programs
Bob Callahan has been involved in the adventure based counseling and training industry for over 30 years. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Management and Human Resources. Bob has lead hundreds of adventure programs for adults and adolescents. Examples of our programs range from sea kayaking, rope courses, backpacking, caving to mountain climbing. Business Adventures going to very special places thorough out North America are his favorite ways to do Corporate Teambuilding.

Bob has also traveled the world, attended many Wilderness and Adventure Schools such as Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School. Bob is especially proud of his time at the International Wilderness Leadership School of South Africa. Bob has climbed Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Teaching wilderness adventure techniques, medical skills, stress management and rescue resources are other duties he enjoys.

Bob was a Juvenile Probation Officer in Virginia Beach Virginia for 12 years, using the wilderness adventure model as a form of probation counseling for clients and families. He was once the Virginia State Juvenile Probation Officer of the year. Bob has written many articles on adventure based counseling for Courts and Social Services Agencies. He has been an approved vendor for the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice and Social Services for over 10 years.

Business Adventures training programs have been conducted for such groups as the City of Virginia Beach, US Navy & Marines, Retail Chains, United Way Agencies, and Public Schools and Universities. Helping business groups, by teaching problem solving and leadership skills in a safe and challenging adventure, can inspire groups to achieve exceptional success.

Bob has been providing critical incident stress management (CISM) to local Fire, EMS and Police for the past 12 years. He is an active life member Paramedic for the Virginia Beach, Virginia Department of EMS. In 2003, he was selected Virginia Beach Paramedic of the Year. For these groups he teaches stress management using the CISM model is an interactive workshop design.

Bob loves nature and the wilderness. He is an avid adventure racer, marathoner, sea kayaker and mountain climber. He was the 2002 Virginia Wheaties Energy Crunch Everyday Champion.

   

Shawn C. Callahan
Director,
Encompass Adventure Programs

Since 1993, Shawn Callahan has been facilitating adventure programs that foster self discovery among youth and adults. Originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he started on his journey as an “adventure based counselor.” Shawn has been pursuing hands-on learning experiences in his profession, including completing a B.S. degree in Outdoor Recreation at Ferrum College, Virginia. He has attended countless professional development trainings from wilderness leadership to adventure based counseling (ABC) while gleaning work experience with some of the primer adventure based programs in the country.

Often Shawn has been a leader in the development of innovative programs, including: self-discovery through adventure, challenge courses and orienteering, and wilderness excursions for emotional growth.

Today, Shawn Callahan is the Co-Owner and Director of Encompass Adventure Programs. Encompass is a preferred vendor of adventure based counseling (group, individual, and family) to the Virginia Departments of Juvenile Justice, Social Services, Mental Health, and other youth serving agencies in the state.

Shawn is an avid runner, orienteerer, adventure racer, canoeist and sea kayaker. He brings his love of the outdoors, fitness and experiential education to life when serving people.
