PROTEIN REDUCES TIME TO HEAL FRACTURES
A study of people who broke their hips due to osteoporosis
found that patients who were deficient in protein who began taking
protein supplements retained 50% more bone mass and recovered an
average of 11 days sooner than those taking a placebo. Consult a physician because too much protein can be bad for the bones.

HAVING DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING PILLS
Here's a tip I ran across if you are having difficulty
swallowing pills.
Take a bite of a banana, begin chewing it up in your mouth,
pop the pill in and swallow!

IGNORING PEOPLE HAS A PRICE
A study at Case Western Reserve University found that
ignoring someone requires a lot of mental energy. The researchers put a
student in a room with a research team member for 4 minutes. Half the students were told to ignore their partner and half were told to talk to them.

Later the researchers gave each student 20 word puzzles to
do. Those who talked in the room were more persistent in their efforts to
solve the puzzles than those who ignored their partners were.

What this means is when you're having a problem with a friend or family
member, it may be better for your health to talk the situation out as
opposed to attempting to ignore the situation.

THE MID WINTER BLAHS ARE COMING
A the days get shorter and winter starts to come closer you have several
ways of avoiding the mid winter blahs. I think one of the fastest and
most effective ways I've discovered is by changing the lighting you're
under to full spectrum bulbs or tubes. If you'd like more information on

There's also a nutritional way to protect yourself. In a study published
in Psychopharmacology students who took 400 IU of vitamin D during the
winter reported feeling more enthusiastic, inspired and alert than those
who took a placebo. Pretty cool solution.

Since were talking about lighting, next time you wake up in the middle
of the night, don't turn on the lights. In Science researchers found
that just 15 minutes of light during nighttime can make it harder to
fall back to sleep. If repeated often it can lead to insomnia.
Nightlights are ok.

GINGER IS GREAT FOR MOTION SICKNESS
Ginger can be used to stop motion sickness and seasickness.
I've used ginger when I've taken a cruise and no sickness. Researchers
at the University of Michigan have corroborated it. They spun 10
volunteers around in a drum. One group took a placebo and they rated
their nausea 7.8 out of a possible 10. Those who ate one gram of ginger
rated their nausea measly 1.5. So enjoy the ginger.

FEELING BETTER DURING CHEMOTHERAPY
We've all heard the stories of how difficult chemotherapy is on the
body. So it might seem absurd to say you can feel better during the
